Traditional
Serve on tunnbröd (thin flatbread) with almond potatoes, chopped onion, sour cream, and dill. Open the can outdoors and rinse the fish before serving.
Classic Tunnbröd & Almond Potatoes
Ingredients:
- 1 can of surströmming
- 4-6 pieces of tunnbröd (Swedish flatbread)
- 4-6 almond potatoes, boiled
- 1 red onion, finely chopped
- 2-3 tablespoons sour cream
- Fresh dill
- Butter
Instructions:
- 1.Open the surströmming can outdoors, underwater to contain the aroma
- 2.Spread butter on the tunnbröd
- 3.Layer with sliced almond potatoes
- 4.Add surströmming fillets
- 5.Top with chopped red onion
- 6.Add a dollop of sour cream
- 7.Garnish with fresh dill
- 8.Roll up and enjoy the traditional way
